October 2018- Month in Review

This October turned out to be more then it was expected to be. October has helped me get one step closer to passing a bylaw in the schools and has helped get my message of Be Someone’s Hero, Not a Bystander to even more people!

October 2nd-

I want to wish Michelle Becker one of the 2 directors of Miss Royalty International a Happy Birthday!!

October 4th-United Way Breakfast and Preschool Dinner

1HOBS8TOOKuat2

An early start to my day with a 4am alarm, and off to Vernon Lodge Hotel to volunteer at the United Way North Okanagan Columbia Shuswap Drive Thu breakfast. All morning I collected Funds for the charity. All the funds raised will go to local charities in my area. The event raised over 11 Thousand Dollars. I was featured on Pageant Planets with a picture from this event.

That night the Preschool which I work for, Little Miracles Preschool, held a fundraiser for a School Bus. At Wings Restaurant.  I sold balloons that night and tried to convince my Students that I AM MISS SEWELL. LOL 😀

October 8th- The Great Pumpkin Run/Walk

1hobs8tookuat22.jpgOn Thanksgiving Monday I Volunteered at The Great Pumpkin Run/Walk in Armstrong at the IPE Grounds. Which is an annual fundraiser for the Armstrong Food Bank and the paper Bag project (which provides lunches for local Students who can not afford lunch)! I handed out Chocolate milk and nuts after the runners crossed the finish line. As well as Mingled before and after the run!

October 14th- Rutland Scarecrow Festival

I was invited to attend and volunteer at the 10th annual Rutland Scarecrow festival. I was asked to help raise funds for the Kelowna and District Saftey Council (KDSC), which are currently finding themselves in hardships. The KDSC brought there classic looking peddle cars for the kids to ride along. At the Scarecrow festival, they have Scarecrow Building, food trucks, local stars, kids games, local entertainment and more!

October 17th- McDonalds VIP

I was Honored to be invited to be a VIP at the McDonalds on Reid in Kelowna, private Grand Opening. I was able to cut the ribbon with the mayor and other dignitary s (pictures of that to come), enjoy some poutine, make my own Mcflurry and of course, go to tour the new location on Old Vernon RD in Kelowna!! Thanks to Rena for making me feel so special this evening and inviting me along!

Side note McDonald’s men are TALL!!

October 19th- Meeting Gena

Mom and I went to stand next to a woman who decided to reach out to Castanet for help as her son, like me, was getting severely bullied in school, She was putting on a protest outside of the school during a Pro-D day. So we went, Mom and I made sure she did not feel alone. Wearing our Be Someone’s hero, Not a Bystander Tee Shirts, we stood there letting the world know that we have been through it, time and time again. And Bullying IS NEVER OKAY.

We were able to Speak to Castanet, Local Law Enforcement and meet Gena the Mother who right now is going through this tough time.

Gena was also my 1000th liker for my facebook page!!!

1HOBS8TOOKuat2Also that day I attended the North Okanagan Hot Air Balloon Fundraiser at the Green Restaurant. I collect donations to view the balloons, and hopefully, it was enough to keep this really cool and Unique to Vernon Society a float (pun intended).

  1. You recently spoke at Beristo school about your story, I just want to say thank you for your courage and for uplifting our youth, making them feel less alone in the battle of bullying/depression. And for letting me know about that texting service.
